BJ Harrison

“Limelight” Painting – Acrylic Mixed Media on Wood Panel 24”x36” Resin Finish

BJ Harrison was born in Southern California and won her first art award from the Los Angeles Unified School District at the age of 10. She was college educated in business and data processing before opening an esthetics business in Beverly Hills, which she operated for twelve years.

When not at work, she would always find time for what she is passionate about; painting and exhibiting her art. She became known locally for her paintings, as well as her “wearable” art.

BJ has spent the last 32 years between Vancouver and Los Angeles. She and her husband, Brian, settled permanently in Vancouver 23 years ago.  Art took a back seat for a few years as she made raising their daughters her priority.  BJ started creating wearable art again, as she could do this while raising her children.  Before long, a community of families — especially the kids — were wearing art by BJ.

BJ, also an accomplished actress, has well over one hundred credits to her name in film, television, voice- over, and in U.S and Canadian national commercials.

Although she finds great joy in acting, BJ now has more time to indulge in her absolute passion, painting! Her influences come from many sources, including artists Norman Greenwald, Ernie Barnes and Frank Lee Miller. Her current work — acrylic and mixed media on panel — is inspired by nature, especially the beautiful coast of British Columbia.

Jean Hamilton

Baby Doll with 22 Piece Layette

“Life is an adventure, but you must make time for it.”

Jean Hamilton was born in Victoria BC in 1922. A true Canadian with Scottish heritage might just explain why this mother of 2, grandmother of 3 + 1 great grandchild has the face of an angel with the humour of a highlander.

Currently on her 5th career Jean was discovered at the ripe young age of 86 by Franks Red Hot Sauce and she’s been putting that “shit on everything” ever since. It’s hard to believe she has time to do anything outside of her new career as she’s done 5 commercials for Franks + many other iconic Canadian brands.

An independent adventurer at heart Jean loves to travel and has a very busy social life. Constantly on the lookout for new galleries, restaurants and antique stores, Jean loves nothing better than discovering a shop unless of course it’s getting a good deal on something.

An accomplished needlework artist Jean loves to create pieces which are often snapped up at charity auctions benefitting causes close to her heart.

At 91 years young if you ask Jean what’s on her bucket list she will tell you that she wants to return to Italy, one of her favourite places to visit. Hawaii, England, Mexico, France, Italy & Scotland are all countries that Jean has been to and loved. While others her age are winding down, Jean shows no signs of stopping!!
